Gerrit Dorsman passed away at the D. Dorsman home on Monday from cancer of the stomach. Deceased was a batchelor and had his home near that of his brother A. Dorsman. He was taken sick about seven weeks ago and then made his home with his brother. Deceased was born in Barendrecht Netherlands in 1839. He came to the United States in 1869 making his home in Wisconsin. In 1871 he came to Sioux county and followed the trade of carpenter, retiring about twenty years ago. Deceased had made his home near Alton for the past forty-two years and was therefore very well known. He is survived by two brothers---Adrianus of Alton and Anton of the Netherlands. The funeral services were held from the Reformed church on Wednesday. Rev. J.P. De Jong was in charge of the services. Interment was made in Nassau township cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. John Burn, Miss Kate Dorsman and Peter, Kryn and G.P. Dorsman of Sheldon, K. Lagendyk and wife of Hospers, John Veenkamp of Sioux Center and Dick Schuller of Maurice attended the funeral.
