Mrs. Alice Cary Johnson passed away at her home at Rock Valley Sunday, September 10, 1933 at 8:30 o’clock. On the Tuesday preceding her death she was taken sick and pneumonia developed claiming Mrs. Johnson as its victim.

Mrs. Johnson (Nee Alice Cary Blount) was the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Blount, born at Waukesha, Wisconsin, August 24, 1852, where she spent her early life. She was united in marriage to William W. Johnson at Decorah, Iowa, March 11, 1874. After their marriage they made their home at LeRoy, Minnesota, where they resided from 1874 to 1893, then coming to Rock Valley. They lived here for four years, when they moved to Hartley where Mr. Johnson conducted an elevator for 17 years, in 1914 they returned to Rock Valley to make their home.

Mrs. Johnson was a quiet home loving woman of an unassuming disposition and was a kind loving wife and mother. She is survived by her aged husband, one daughter, Mrs. Grace J. Large, and one son, Arthur C. Johnson, both of Rock Valley; one sister, Mrs. Mary J. Larrahoe of LeRoy, Minnesota and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Reverend G.A. Tyler of the Methodist Church. Interment took place at Valley View Cemetery.
