George Jungers, 77, passed away March 14, at the Orange City Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past year. Funeral services were held March 18th at 10 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, Alton, the Reverend Richard Zenk, a nephew officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were nephews, Alfred Zenk, Claude Hemmen, and Paul Goergen of Granville, Alvin Zenk, Bigelow, Minnesota. Francis Dittman, Boyden and Vern Honkomp of Sheldon.

He was the son of John and Margaret Schanen Jungers, born November 23, 1890 at Hospers, Iowa. He married Barbara Engeldinger on January 14, 1913 at Alton. She died September 18, 1965. He farmed near Alton until his retirement to Alton in 1959. He had been making his home in the Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen at the time of his death.

Survivors are two sons, Herbert of Chicago, Illinois, Bernard of Hospers; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Muth of Iowa City, Mrs. Leo Goergen of Granville and Mrs. Merlyn Niichel of Alton. He was preceded in death by his wife and one son, George Jr. in 1959. Other survivors are two brothers, Richard of Sauk Center, Minnesota and Henry of Ukiah, California; five sisters, Mrs. Rose Schuver of Nora Springs, Mrs. Mary McGrath of Sheldon, Mrs. Lena Frohwein of Oakland, California, Mrs. Isabel Riedmiller and Mrs. Blanche Lauters of Hospers. His parents, two brothers, and two sisters also preceded him in death.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were: Mrs. Robert Muth of Iowa City, Herbert Jungers of Chicago, Mrs. Rose Schuver and Harold Schuver of Nora Springs, Tom and Mrs. Vala of Rockford, Iowa, George and Mrs. Vortherms and Mrs. Josephine Hemmen, Fluda, Minnesota, Mark and Mrs. Full of Taunton, Minnesota, Cyril and Mrs. Zenk of Slayton, Minnesota, Alvin and Mrs. Zenk, Bigelow, Minnesota, Ed and Mrs. Hemmes, Reading, Minnesota, Richarl and Mrs. Jungers, Sauk Center, Minnesota and many relatives and friends surrounding communities.
