Mrs. Gertrude Juffer, 83, of Orange City, passed away Sunday, March 6 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 9 at the Alton Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Robert Vander Schaaf officiating. Interment followed at Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

Gertrude was born April 18, 1904 at Sioux Center, the daughter of Ulbe J. Dykstra and Jossie Ottuma Dykstra. On February 20, 1934 she married William "Bill" Juffer at Rock Valley. They farmed in Minnesota and Wisconsin until 1946 when they moved to Alton.

Mr. Juffer passed away April 18, 1967. In 1979 Mrs. Juffer moved to Orange City. She was a member of the Alton Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her son, Urban James "Jeff" of Orange City; four grandchildren, six great- grandchildren; and a brother, John Dykstra of Galesville, Wisconsin.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Nick, Dick, Jake, Richard, Urban and Elmer Dykstra.
