William Jones, 65, longtime resident of the Ireton community, died Monday morning at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls where he had been a patient over a year. Prior to that he had been a patient in the Hawarden and Le Mars hospital.

Mr. Jones was born September 5, 1892, on a farm near Ireton. He never married. He farmed in the Archer and Spencer vicinities before returning to Ireton to make his home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Jones, until they died.

Later he lived with his sister, Mrs. Ida Wills, also of Ireton. He was a World War I veteran.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Pearly, and a sister, Effie.

Survivors include three brothers, Clarence of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Arthur of Hawarden and Ralph of Ireton; two sisters, Mrs. Daisy Bartlett of Le Mars and Mrs. Ida Wills, and a large number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be this afternoon (Thursday) at the home of Mrs. Wills in Ireton at 2 o’clock and at 2:30 at the Presbyterian Church, Reverend J. Boyd Stevensen officiating. Interment will be a Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Satterlee Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include Alvin White, Frank Bowden, Roy Winkelman, Herbert Brown, Edward Van Engen and Louis Goodmanson.
