Vera M. Baack, 90, of Craig, IA died on Saturday, February 1, 1997, at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars, IA. Services were held on Monday afternoon, February 3, 1997, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig, where she was a member, the Reverend Ernest Caltvedt officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mrs. Baack was born August 31, 1906, in Salix, IA, the daughter of Merrill and Zora (Galland) Elliot. She moved with her family to Craig as a small child, and was raised in the Craig area. She married Walter Baack on June 14, 1928, in Sioux City, and the couple made their home in Craig;. Mr. Baack died in 1968.

Survivors include two daughters, Jeanine and her husband Orval Grasz of Craig, and Marilyn Giffin of Brooklyn Park, MN; eight grandchildren: 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Schackelett; and two brothers, Donald and Glen Elliot
