Funeral services for Peter William Jiskoot, 64, were held at The First Reformed Church in Alton, with Reverend Sandee officiating. Burial was in Nassau Cemetery. He died suddenly Thursday evening May 26, at Alton.

Peter was born on a farm near Hospers, February 28, 1891, and spent most of his life in or around Alton, except for some years in New Jersey and at Melvin, Iowa. He was a veteran of World War I and saw action in France.

December 21, 1921, he was united in marriage to Deena Vrieze. To this union two daughters were born, the oldest dying in infancy. His wife preceded him in death in 1940. He is survived by his only daughter (Dora) Mrs. Kenneth Probst of Galva, Iowa, and four grandchildren: Dianne, Gary, Glenda and LuAnn Probst. He is also survived by one brother, William of Sheldon, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Ed Sordrager, Anthony Pottebaum, Ervin Herrig, Pete Keizer, Martin Dykstra and Bas Van Iperen.

Relatives attending from a distance came from Worthington and Spring Valley, Minnesota; plus a number of friends and relatives from neighboring towns.

A memorial gift was received for the church chimes from Mr. and Mrs. William Jiskoot and sons of Sheldon, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Jiskoot of George.
