Clara Jasper
September 2, 1921 - September 28, 2016

Clara Jasper was born on September 2, 1921, in Rock Valley, Iowa, to Bastian Mulder and Marie (Faber) Mulder. She was the third of eleven children. She was educated through the Eighth Grade in country schools in Sioux County, Iowa, and then, besides helping her parents on their farm, she worked for area families, and was also a store clerk in Long Beach, California, during World War II. Returning to Iowa, she met George Jasper, and they were united in marriage in Orange City on July 18, 1947. George worked as a truck driver while she took care of the home and family. In 1956 they moved to Artesia, California, and lived there until retiring to Sun City, California, in 1988. Nine years later they relocated to Chino, California, and joined the Chino First United Reformed Church. Following her husband's death in 2006, Clara moved to Inland Christian Home, and resided there until the Lord called her home on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at the age of 95.

Clara's life centered around her family and her church. She sang in the choir for many years and participated in numerous church activities. Coffee Break Bible Study and Mary & Martha Society were especially meaningful to her. She and George loved to travel, making many trips to the Midwest, as well as visiting Canada, Mexico, Europe, and the Holy Land. She was a gracious hostess and always had fresh baked goods ready to serve. Many of her grandchildren would request that she bake their favorite recipes when they came. She was skillful in preparing big meals for large groups of visitors – and made it look effortless. She was a strong supporter of Christian education, and never complained (much) when her six children came home from school announcing that they had each volunteered to bring a different treat for their class Christmas parties. Clara especially cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made each one feel like they were special and they loved her so much. She prayed for all of them and trusted in the Lord's covenant faithfulness. Clara also enjoyed her church and Inland friends and the "Cocoa Ladies". As her earthly body became more frail, she longed for her eternal home, and is now experiencing "The peace of God which passes all understanding." (Philippians 4:7)

Survivors include her children and spouses, Elaine and Arlan Memmelaar, Gar and Beth Jasper, Bob and Joanne Jasper, Don and Diane Jasper, Renae and Alvin Venhuizen, and Rick and Arlys Jasper; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren; three brothers and spouses: Carl (Milly) Mulder, John (Wilma) Mulder, Melvin (Marge) Mulder; brother-in-law: Elmer Bonnema; sister-in-law: Martha Mulder.

In addition to her husband, Clara was preceded in death by her parents; siblings and spouses: Marinus Mulder, Sadie (Ervin) Lassen, Dick (Theresea) Mulder, Henry (Marietta) Mulder, Mathilda Bonnema, Irene (Edward) Roghair, and Carl William Mulder in infancy.

Visitation will be held at Draper Mortuary, 811 N. Mountain Avenue, Ontario, California on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at First United Reformed Church, 6159 Riverside Drive, Chino, California 91710 on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery at a later date.
