Son of Jouke Annes Jansma and Geeske Molles DeJong.

Husband of Maaike A. VanderLinden.

Father of Jacob, Elizabeth, John, Jacob, Marinus, Grace, Heiltje, Maria, Minnie, Leonard, Frederick and Annie.

Arrived 11 June 1855 in New York from Rotterdam, Netherlands on ship Tarvlinta.

Sioux County Herald of February 13, 1901: Last week Friday occurred the funeral of Mr. Jansma at Newkirk. Deceased had attained the age of 65 years. He was one of the very first pioneers in this part of the country and also one of the founders of the Newkirk Church.

He leaves behind five sons and five daughters to mourn his death. The large attendance at the funeral, which was held at Newkirk, shows the high esteem in which he was held in that community. Those attending from here were his son, M. Jansma and family, Mr. & Mrs. A. De Vries, Messrs. L. Roetman, C. Wierks, J. Blom, H. Hyink and J. De Vries.
