From the Sioux County Index (Hull), August 7, 1925:

Mr. and Mrs. J. VanSloten were the happy parents of twins, born on Sunday morning [August 2]. In their joy was [illegible] of sadness when one died soon after birth. Interment was necessary that very day. Rev. Douwstra offered prayer at the grave.

From the Alton Democrat, August 7, 1925, Hull news:

Twins, a boy and a girl, of which only the boy survived, were born to Mr. and Mrs. John Van Sloten on Sunday morning.
