Gerrit Groen, a former resident of Rock Valley, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Steinberg, at Madison, S. Dak., Sunday, Nov. 6th. Funeral services were held at Madison the following Wednesday Mr. Groen, who moved away from here several years ago, will be remembered by a number of people in Rock Valley and vicinity.

Mr. Groen was born in Holland .July 23, 1855, and had attained the age of seventy-two years, three months and fourteen days. He came to this country thirty-four years ago. He leaves his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Steinberg, of Madison, S. D., and Mrs. N. Aardema of Sioux Center and one son, Henry Groen, of Rock Valley vicinity.

A Madison paper gives the following account: "Funeral services for Gerrit Groen, native of Holland, and a resident of Lake county the past four years, who died Sunday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Steinberg, north of this city, were held this afternoon at the Seventh Day Advents church, with Elder P. G. Stanley officiating. Burial, directed from the Hollenbeck undertaking parlors, was made in Grace Hill Cemetery
