Mrs. William J. Griffith passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Osterday in this city, at 3:30 o'clock Sunday morning from infirmities incident to her advanced years. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon.at 2 o'clock at the Methodist Episcopal church with .the pastor, the Rev. J. W. LaGrone, in charge. Music was furnished by a quartet of ladies from the Methodist choir. The floral offerings were very pretty and bespoke the high esteem in which Mrs. Griffith was held among her many friends. Burial was made in Grace Hill cemetery.

Martha Katherine Quick was born Nov. 22, 1845, in Cornwell, Ky., and passed away April 17,1927, at the age passed away April 17,1927, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 25 days. She moved with her parents to Grant county, Wis., when a young girl. On Feb. 25, 1866, she was united in marriage with William J. Griffith, who preceded her in death on March 7, 1925. Deceased came with her husband and family from Wisconsin to Plymouth county, Iowa, in 1883 and shortly afterwards moved to the vicinity of Ireton, thus being among the earliest settlers of that vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Griffith made their home at Ireton for more than forty years but since Mr. Griffith's death two years, ago Mrs. Griffith has made her Home with her daughter in this city.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Griffith, all of whom survive. The children are Mrs. Emma Osterday of Hawarden, Mrs. John Edwards of Le Mars, James A. Griffith of Ireton, Mrs. (Next line illegible) William M. Griffith of Glade Park CO. Besides these six children she is survived by one sister, Mrs. J. J, Baker of Hawarden, and two brothers, Joseph W. Quick of Gayville, S. D., and John M. Quick of Fennimore, Wis. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Griffith united with the Mt. Joy Church of God in Eagle township about thirty year ago and has always retained her membership with this church. During her long years of residence at Ireton and her more recent residence in Hawarden she was always highly esteemed as a neighbor and friend and genuine sympathy goes out to the members of her family in their sorrow.
