Sheldon News: A peculiar sad accident occurred in Sioux county near the little station of Maurice, just west of Orange City, Friday night. One (Patrick) Griffin of Sherman township has two sons in the saloon business, one at Ireton and on at Maurice, two small towns on the Northwestern. The night of the accident Griffin had become intoxicated in his son’s saloon in Maurice and started to walk home in that condition late at night, his route taking him down the railroad track. He had not reached home the next morning and a search was instituted, resulting in finding his dead body under the railroad bridge a short distance from town.
