Elsie Jacobs, 98, of Beresford died Sunday, March 3, 1996, at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford.

Services were at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Wass Funeral Chapel in Beresford with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Alcester. Visitation was from 1 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jacobs, the former Elsie Hamilton, was born May 29, 1897, in Lennox. She moved to Alcester at an early age with her parents. She attended Prospect Hill rural school in Union County.

She married Herman Jacobs October 1, 1919, in Union County. The couple farmed in the Alcester area until their retirement in 1962, when they moved to Beresford. He died in 1970. She had been a resident of Bethesda Nursing Home since December 1995.

Mrs. Jacobs was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden.

Survivors include a son, Wendell of Minnetonka, Minnesota; a daughter, Mary Joann Mallette of Sioux City; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Gatewood of Sioux City and Margaret Ericison of Mesa, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews.
