From the Boyden Reporter, May 14, 1925:

OBITUARY – MRS. REBEKKA ROHDE-MEYN

Rebekka Rohde-Meyn was born on the 13th day of January in the year of 1846, at Oppeln, Province Hanover, Germany, and died on Saturday, May 9th, 1925, at 11:30 p.m. at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 26 days. The cause of her death was old age and kidney trouble, her last illness being of about one month’s duration. She was the wife of John Peter Meyn, Sr., and to this union two sons were born, Henry of Boyden and John of Yorkton, Sask., Canada. Besides a husband and two sons to mourn her death, she leaves two brothers and two sisters, who are John Rohde, of Boyden; Henry Rohde, of Westworth, N. J.; Mrs. John Reyelta, of New York; and Mrs. Anna Beisel, of Hamburg, Germany.

Deceased was married in Germany in the year of 1874, and in the year of 1896 they came to America, and settled on a farm 14 miles northwest of Boyden. In the year of 1910, about 15 years ago, they retired from active farming and came to Boyden to live, where they have made their home to the present day.

She was a faithful member of the St. John’s Lutheran church, of north of Boyden, and a woman of Christian character; a kind wife and mother and a good neighbor. To her the struggle and burden bearing of earth are ended and we confidently trust that like one who awakes from a troubled dream, she has awakened to see life’s endless morning break and knows herself at home with all the loved ones missing from earth, safe about her.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 o’clock at the home, and at 2:00 o’clock at the St. John’s Lutheran church with Rev. Wm. Baetke in charge. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery. The Reporter extends its sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones.

From the Alton Democrat, May 15, 1925, Boyden news:

MRS. P. MEYN SUMMONED TO GREAT BEYOND

The community was grieved Saturday morning when it was learned that Mrs. Peter Meyn had received the final summons about midnight Friday after an illness which has lasted almost a year. She had a stroke of paralysis several months ago, but had partially recovered and was about her home until three weeks ago when she had a relapse, and did not rally again. She leaves a husband and two sons to mourn her loss, Henry who was at her bedside and John whose home is in Canada and who arrived after death had claimed his mother. Funeral services were held from the home Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased who was nearing the age of 79 has passed many years in this community and was a devoted wife and faithful mother, a loyal friend, good neighbor and conscientious christian woman, and will be missed by a host of friends who are united in sympathy with the bereaved family.
