Mrs. Ida Huygens, 84, of Hospers died Tuesday, July 16 in a nursing home in Sanborn.

Services were at 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 19 in the Newkirk Reformed Church. The Reverend Eugene Voss officiated. Burial was in the Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sioux Center. Visitation was from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Thursday, July 18, at the Church.

Mrs. Hygens, the former Ida Grotenhuis, was born May 13, 1910, in Newkirk. She married Adrian J. Huygens December 28, 1928. They farmed in the Newkirk area. He died October 4, 1966.

Mrs. Huygens was a member of the Newkirk Reformed Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Max (Carole) Kersbergen of Anchorage, Alaska, one son, Clarence of Hospers; one stepson, James Huygens of Portland, Oregon, one stepdaughter, Gertrude Hygens of Gresham, Oregon; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Van Werven of Sheldon; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
