MRS. GEORGE J. INGALLS DIED SATURDAY MORNING --WAS A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF THIS COMMUNITY--SURVIVED BY HUSBAND AND FIVE CHILDREN

Mrs. George H. Ingalls passed away at 6:20 Saturday morning at Rochester, Minnesota, where she, in company with Mr. Ingalls, had gone on Tuesday of last week to seek surgical aid. Mrs. Ingalls had been in poor health for the past three or four months as she had been suffering from a goiter. Her condition grew steadily worse and it was decided that she should go to Rochester in hopes that she might be benefited but owing to her weakened condition and the strain of the journey it was decided not to perform the operation.

Mr. Ingalls accompanied the body back, reaching Hawarden on the Northwestern train Sunday afternoon when it was taken to the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. W.T. Youngkin. Funeral services were held at 1 o’clock at the Youngkin home and at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at of the Associated Church with Reverend A.M. McIntosch of Sioux City, formerly of Hawarden, in charge. The Eastern Star Lodge had charge of the services at the grave. Interment was made in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Winnifred May Covvey was born Easter Sunday, April 10, 1887, on the old Covvey homestead, two miles west of Hawarden in Union County, and passed away April 9, 1927, lacking but one day of being 40 years of age. She was the youngest of five children born to Eugene and Mary (Killan) Covvey, pioneer residents of this vicinity. She grew to young womanhood there and received her early education in the home school. Later she attended St. Mary’s parochial school in Hawarden, graduating on June 18, 1906. On October 14, 1908, she was united in marriage with George H. Ingalls at Alcester. To this union were born six children, Bertha, aged 17, Clarence, aged 15, Helen, aged 11, Donald, aged 4, and Dorothy, aged 2. One son died in infancy in 1918. She united with the Presbyterian Church in Hawarden in early childhood remaining a conscientious member to the end. Her Christianity was ever manifested in her daily life. She was a member of the local Eastern Star Chapter. Her home life was always one of loving service to her family. None ever called on her in vain. She was ever ready to render assistance to anyone in need. No matter how hard the task or how great the pain she was never heard to complain. Her death comes as a great sorrow in the home where she was truly needed and sincere sympathy is extended to the husband and children who are bereft of the loving care and guidance of a faithful wife and mother. Besides her husband and five children she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Charles Blomberg, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
