Widow of former District Judge Passed Away Last Thursday

Mrs. Belle Hutchinson, highly revered Sioux County woman, died at her home at Alton last Thursday after months of illness.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church at Alton Monday afternoon, with Reverend G. Bray of Sulphur Springs, Iowa, a former pastor, conducting the services. Interment was made in the family lot in Orange City.

Belle Webster was born and grew to young womanhood near Marietta, Ohio.

During her school days she met Mr. Blake, whom she married in the early 80's. Mr. Blake died three years afterwards and Mrs. Blake came west to visit relatives in Hawarden.

It was while here that she met the late Judge William Hutchinson whom she married June 14, 1888, at Marietta, Ohio.

After their marriage they located in Orange City where Mr. Hutchinson was serving as County Attorney. To this union a son was born who died in infancy.

Later when Mr. Hutchinson's sister died they took her daughter, Ethel Lytle Gund, and reared her to young womanhood.

They moved from Orange City to Alton in 1898 after Mr. Hutchinson was elected as a judge of the district court and Alton has continued as the family home. Judge Hutchinson passed away in 1925 after an eminent career on the bench.

During all his years of service as judge Mrs. Hutchinson frequently accompanied him on his trips over the judicial district and they enjoyed a wide acquaintance.

Mrs. Hutchinson affiliated with the Presbyterian Church when it was organized at Alton and was a charter member of the Eastern Star at that place, a past worthy matron and a district instructor. She also organized an Eastern Star Chapter at Marcus.

She was a member of chapter CD, P. E. O., at LeMars.

Her niece, Mrs. Gund, who resides at Marcus; was at her bedside constantly during her long fatal illness.
