Funeral services for John Humme, 93, of Hull, were held Saturday, October 8, at the First Reformed Church of Hull with the Reverend David Ter Beest officiating. Special music was “What a Friend We Have In Jesus,” sung by the mixed quartet. Pallbearers were Peter, James and John M. Humme, Arlan and Dennis Van Wyk and Delmar Slykhuis. Interment was at Hope Cemetery, Hull. Arrangements were by Kraai Funeral Home.

Mr. John Humme was born in the Netherlands and came to the United States in March of 1894, and passed away Wednesday, October 5, at his home in Hull.

On December 3, 1903, he was married to Nellie Van Sloten, and to this union four children were born.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Arnold of Hull; William of Boyden; Dena of Hull; Coba (Mrs. J.A. Van Wyk) of Sanborn; a foster daughter, Margaret Styf of Wahpeton, North Dakota; and 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

His wife, Nellie; two sisters, Dena and Jennie (Mrs. L. Van Sloten) and one grandchild preceded him in death.

Mr. Humme was a faithful member of the First Reformed Church of Hull for 72 years, and served as a deacon and as custodian for many years.
