French, John died Feb 15, 1896 at 78 years from the Sioux county death records. Presumed to be buried in Union Hill cemetery rural Reading township Sioux County IA. That is where his wife Harriet French was taken to be buried in 1908.

Note: He was the husband of Harriet French who died 1908, see her obit for more family details. In the 1860 census of Cedar Falls IA, John French was 50 years born about 1820 England, wife Harriet 34, Jane 7, Anna 5, William 2, Ida ½ year and Samuel Tooley 67 living with them.

In the 1865 census of Kirkland Oneida New York, John was 47, Harriet 29, Children of first marriage Ephriam 1844, James 19, Emma 16, Charles 13, Susan 11, Estimated children of second marriage Jane 3, and Anna Baby. Samuel Tooley was living with the family age 63 born about 1802. He is presumed to be the father of Harriet. He lived with them in New York, Black Hawk IA and then in Ireton IA.

Found from Ephriam marriage that John was first married to Elizabeth Wenham born 11 Jul 1824 Warbleton Sussex England she died between 1855 and 1860 at Kirkland Oneida New York. Ancestry.com reports that John was born 1817-1819 Heathfield Sussex England
