Darlene Elaine Burbach of Maitland, FL, formerly of Hawarden), died Oct. 3, 2016. Burial was held at Oct. 5 at Palm Cemetery, Winter Park, FLA.

Darlene was born Dec. 3, 1931 in Union County S.D., the daughter of Clarence and Eva Marie Peterson. She grew up in Hawarden, graduating in 1950 from Hawarden High School. Classmates called her "Pete" or Petey"because of her maiden name.

Darlene married Col. Frederick Burbach (US Army Ret.) and spent almost 30 years as a military spouse, living in the Panama Canal Zone, Argentina and many stateside locations.
Darlene and Fred retired to Maitland and divorced in 1987.

Darlene worked part-time at Sears store in Winter Park for a number of years in retirement.

She'll be remembered for her sense of humor, love of animals and passion for watching old movies.

Survivors include six children, Mike Burbach, Fairfax VA; Mark Burbach, EUstis, FL; Jeff Burbach, Reston, VA; Michelle Burback, Apopka, FL; Amy Jensen, Fairfax, VA; and Susan Stovin, Atlanta, Georgia; and 15 grandchildren.
