Mrs. OttoGerdes passed away at her home four miles southwest of Ireton Friday night at the age
of 72 years. The funeral services were held Tuesday at the German Lutheran church in Ireton, Rev. Schmidt conducting the services.

Her husband preceded her in death about sixteen years ago. She leaves two sons and three daughters to mourn her death.

Otto and Rebecca were married in Madison Illinois, record states Otto F. Gerdes married 31 May 1871 to Rebecca Garrels. Iowa deaths lists Rebecca G. Garrels Gerdes born 23 Ar 1841 Germany died 13 Jun 1913 Washington Township Ireton Sioux County IA. Her father was John Garrels 1806 mother possibly Amelia Garrels abt 1818
