Died: October 8, 1946

Daughter of Albert Houtsma and Anna Wibben Houtsma.

Death came to Miss Gertrude Houtsma, daughter of Mrs. A Houtsma, October 3 at 12:55 P.M. in Doornink Hospital. She was 44 and an invalid for the last 26 years, but was only seriously ill since Wednesday. She was a patient sufferer, never complaining.

Miss Houtsma was born in Orange City. Surviving are her mother and nine sisters and brothers: Peter of Oglivie, Minnesota, Tillie (Mrs. Lou Vander Plaats) of DeJou, Minnesota, Cornie of Orange City, Nettie (Mrs. Henry Hielkema of San Antonio, Texas, Henrietta (Mrs. James Jasper, Jr.) of Orange City, Clara (Mrs. Pete Van Otterloo) of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Tena (Mrs. Gerrit Dolieslager) of Foreston, Minnesota, Marie (Mrs. J.C. McGowan) of Fort Worth, Texas, Anne (Mrs. Paul Schubert) of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her father and one brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held on October 10, at one o’clock in the home and at one thirty in the First Christian Reformed Church with Reverend R. De Groot in charge. Burial was in the Orange City Cemetery.
