Mrs. Margret Hoffman, age 63, of Alton, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

There will be a memorial mass on Saturday, June 24, at 10:30am, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. The Rev. Fr. Terry Roder will officiate. A private interment will follow the service at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Friday, with a rosary at 5:00pm and a prayer service at 7:00pm, at the church.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Margret Anne was born on August 5, 1953, at Le Mars, the daughter of Roman and Betty (Bohlke) Mueller. She was raised in Le Mars, where she attended school. As a young woman, “Mitzi” worked in restaurants and later owned and operated The Log Cabin Restaurant in Alton.

On September 5, 1981, she married Robert Stephen Hoffman in Alton, where they made their home. With the arrival of their daughter, Megan, Mitzi began babysitting the young children of many of her friends, until Megan began school. She then worked at K-Products and later Bomgaars Supply, both in Orange City. She retired in 2008.

Mitzi was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed cross stitching, coloring, playing cards, spending time with her family, including their two puppies, Tippy and Chewie, and spending time with her many good friends.

Survivors include her husband of more than 35 years; a daughter, Megan Hoffman, of Atlantic, Iowa; three brothers and their wives, Marlin and Kathy Mueller, Paul and Connie Mueller, and Rick and Jane Mueller; three sisters, Janet Gunther, Mary Mueller and Margie Mueller; her mother-in-law, Lorraine Hoffman; and Bob’s siblings and their families.

In addition to her parents and father-in-law, Phil Hoffman, she was preceded in death by a brother, Roman Mueller, Jr.; and a brother-in-law, John Gunther
