Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Carl William, a son of God, was born on January 23, 1930, during the difficult days of the Depression, in Lebanon, Iowa, the ninth of eleven children of Bastian and Maria (Faber) Mulder. His life was shaped by what was going on in the world. When his three older brothers were called into military service in World War II, he was sorely needed to work on the farm with his father. They worked with quarter horses, shocking oats, and farmed with a small 14-horsepower Farmall tractor from dawn to dusk.

He was then called to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, but not before he married his sweet girl, Mildred Riphagen, on September 4, 1951, in Hull. They were blessed to enjoy over 65 years of partnership, raising their family of seven on a farm two miles west of Orange City for nearly forty years. He viewed his calling to tend the land and his dairy herd as a partnership with God, working hard to farm in a conscientious, godly way.

Mr. Mulder was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church and served on the consistory and the Christian school boards of directors for many years. He loved listening to music, especially the organ, and singing tenor. He was passionate about serving others, enjoyed refurbishing wheelchairs for Hope Haven International, and was devoted to the Gideons International and prison ministry. He participated in mission trips, where he could meet and help people; his video camera went with him everywhere, as he documented his adventures. Especially in his retirement years, his extensive prayer list, reading the Bible, and writing his book of memoirs, Glimpses through the Window, were priorities.

He is survived by his wife, Milly. Those blessed to call him Dad were Carla, and her husband, Don Sinnema, of Holland, Michigan; Rodney Mulder (in heaven since 1971); David Mulder, and his wife, Gallaudet, of Newburyport, Massachusetts; Loren Mulder, and his wife, Kathy, of Orange City; Mary, and her husband, Ken Wynia, of Holland, Michigan; Rita, and her husband, Rusty Blare, of Hamill, South Dakota; and Rebecca, and her husband, Chad Walters, of Dorr, Michigan; 28 grandchildren, Jason, Maria and David Brouwer; Sparhawk and Rowan Mulder; Elizabeth Brinkman, Will, Marji, Beatrice, Chuck, and Caroline Mulder; Samantha Lilly, Rachel Gillispie, Craig, Kendra, and Susanna Wynia; Jessica Adams, Cody, Nick, Elijah, Meagan, Amanda, Austin, and Jed Blare; and Joshua, Mary Elizabeth, Brittney, and Benjamin Carl Walters; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Mulder, and his wife, Wilma, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Melvin Mulder, and his wife, Marge, of Ripon, California; a brother-in-law, Elmer Bonnema, of Sioux Center; and a sister-in-law, Leona Schreur, of Alton.

His siblings and spouses who are rejoicing with him in heaven are Marinus, Dick, and Hank Mulder, Sadie Lassen, Clara Jasper, Irene Roghair, Mathilda Bonnema, and baby brother, Carl William Mulder.

Memorials may be directed to the Gideons International, or the wheelchair ministry of Hope Haven International.
