RITES HELD FOR ALFRED D. HORTON, 95

Funeral services for Alfred D. Horton, 95, a former long time banker, were held at 10 A.M. Monday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Reverend William Carel officiated and burial was in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Barnard-Dow Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The rosary was recited at 8 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Casket bearers were Dave Gearhart, Kenneth Carlson, Monroe Lundberg, Henry Visser, Lloyd Johnson and Bob Koob.

Mr. Horton died Thursday at the Hawarden Hospital. He was born May 15, 1871 at Rockland, Ohio and came to Hawarden in November of 1883. He married Ann Doctor in Hawarden October 9, 1901.

Mr. Horton had been associated with banks in Chatsworth, Ireton, Alcester and Hawarden. He was a charter member of the Eagles Lodge here and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Le Mars.

Survivors include the widow, Ann; a son, Charles, of Hawarden, and a sister, Mrs. Blanche Palmer of Cedar Rapid, Iowa.
