Died: September 11, 1901

On Wednesday afternoon, September 11, at 3:30 o’clock, occurred the death of little Ruth, the ten month old babe of Mr. and Mrs. C.F. Hoffman. The immediate cause of its death was Whooping Cough and Cholera Infection. The funeral occurred from the house, a large number of friends following the remains to Hope Cemetery where the little one was laid to rest.

The announcement that this little cherub had passed away, called forth expressions of sympathy for the bereaved parents from friends everywhere. The Hoffman home, with its two bright little babies Helen and Ruth was a happy one. The Angel of Death with a quiet tread came in and took one of the babes to that happier home, entering which innocent children become cherubim.

Little Ruth died on the day she was ten months old. She was a beautiful babe and had become so endeared to her parents by her winning ways, that grief for her taking away is well high unbearable. Although quite ill for the past few weeks, her condition had not been considered really dangerous until the morning of her death, when it became evident that her little life was about to go out.

There are a number of homes in Hull which contain ones of about the same age as little Ruth and the parents can feel the truest sympathy for Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman in their sad loss, though it is to be hoped they may never be called upon to face the sorrow their friends are now undergoing. The only consolation the parents can receive for the loss of their little one, is the feeling that she rests peacefully in that Heavenly Home where sorrow and pain are unknown.
