Mrs. John Ward died at the home of her daughter Mrs. P. R. Thompson, of Alton, on Tuesday May 13th following a severe paralytic stroke. Deceased had reached the age of 75 years. She is survived by her husband and eight children. The remains were taken to Galena, Illinois for burial. John Ward and Mrs. P.R. Thompson accompanied the remains to Galena. The funeral occurred on Thursday.
