William Ecker, 70, Granville, died Sunday in the Orange City Municipal Hospital of lengthy illness.
Services were a at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Granville. The Rev. Francis Nemmers officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery under direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen. The Rosary was recited by the parish at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday and by the Catholic Order of Foresters at 7:30 p.m. at Spalding Hall in Granville. Pallbearers wereJim Beck, Roy Ebel, Norbert Goergen, Paul Goergen, Elwood Koehlmoes, and Lyle Koehlmoes

Mr. Ecker was born March 20, 1910, at Mooreton, N.D. He moved with his family to Madison, Minn.,
at the age of two. He married Maria Beckmann Jan. 14, 1946, at Granville. They farmed in Wilniont, Minn, for 10 years before moving to the Granville area in 1944. They farmed there until 1970 when they retired, moving into Granville in 1972. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Catholic Aid Society, both of Madison.

Survivors include the widow; one son, Alvin of Spencer; one daughter, Mrs. Duncan (Wilma) Pullen of Frcdericksburg, Va.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Leo and Aloysius, both of Madison; seven sisters, Mrs. Peter (Helen)Mersch of Mantador, N.D., Sister Regina of the Order of Notre Damein St. Paul, Minn., 'Mrs. Vernun (Rose) Graham of Madison, Mrs Donald (Walburga) Hagen ofJohnson, Minn., Mrs. Mainard (lola) Hastier of Clark, S.D., Mrs.Donald (Rita) Mosher of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Norva D. Chapel of Grand Junction, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Nicholas Ecker and Wilhelminia Trapp Ecker, two brothers, Joe and Henry; and one sister, Philomene.
