Mrs. J. F. Earll, one of the pioneer women of Sioux County, died last Saturday at the home of her son, Warren Earll, in Washington Township, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 15 days. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in the Washington Town ship cemetery. Rev. C. W. Heady, pastor of the Baptist church of Hawarden, preached the funeral sermon.

Maria Reese was born at Warren NY, Nov 1, 1841. She resided there during her childhood and then moved to Minnesota. She was untied in marriage to J. F. Earll at Fremont MN, Feb 27 1859. They settled on a homestead in Blue Earth County MN but were driven from there by the Indian uprising and massacre in 1862 and returned to Winona. They came to Sioux County in 1871 and located on a homestead in Washington township where thy lived for 45 years, moving to Hawarden about two years and a half ago.

Two sons were born to this union, Fred and Warren both of whom are living. She is also survived by eight grandchildren. He life companion passed away last September on Christmas day she went to the home of their son Warren to make her home. She was taken ill about a week before her death and rapidly declined and passed peacefully away last Saturday. She was loved by all who know her. The sympathy of the community is extended the sorrowing sons and relatives.
