Delmar Kuper, 89, and Viola Kuper, 81,of Lennox, South Dakota, formerly of Hull, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017, at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD, as the result of injuries they received in an automobile accident.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, April 28, at 1:30pm, at the Delaware Reformed Church in rural Lennox. Interment will follow the service at the Lennox Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Thursday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the church.

Delmar Dale Kuper was born at Lennox, SD, on August 26, 1927, the son of Harm and Anna (Hoffman) Kuper. He grew up here attending Burma country school. Delmar farmed and drove gravel truck for a living. He enjoyed wood carving and feeding the birds and squirrels.

Viola Faye Bunger was born in August 16, 1935 near Davis, SD, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Knock) Bunger. She grew up south of Lennox attending Long Creek country school and graduated from Lennox High School in 1953. Viola was active in her church choir and women’s ministry. She enjoyed knitting and had a love for cats and cat collectables. Vi made daily journal entries of the events of the day, weather, meals, mileage and travel expenses.

The couple was married on September 15, 1953. They lived in Canton and Hurley before moving to Hull, IA. They were members of the American Reformed Church where they also worked as custodians for over 12 years. The couple also worked as funeral assistants for Oolman Funeral Home in Hull. Together they enjoyed camping and Sunday afternoon drives. In 2013 they moved to Lennox where they became members of the Delaware Reformed Church. Their deaths ended a marriage union of over 63 years.

Grateful for having shared their lives are: Delmar’s siblings: Harley (Catherine) Kuper and Norma Chesshir both of Sioux Falls and Viola’s brother, Kennard (Loris) Bunger, Albany, MN and their nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends and extended family.
