William Rozeboom, 80, passed away at his home Saturday, April 24 at 9:30 p.m. following a stroke.

He was born, in Oldenboek, Netherands. He came to America with his parents at the age of 14 years. The family settled in Wisconsin.

When a young man he found employment in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In 1883 he came to Iowa and spent the first year on the P. De Jong farm near Newkirk. The following year he came to Orange City where associated himself with H. De Kraay in the hardware business.

While engaged in this business he accepted the agency for the Hawkeye Insurance Company, later devoting all his time to this and was associated with the Company for the past 34 years.

On December 10, 1885 he was married to Antoinette Vander Gijp. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on December 10, 1935.

Ten children were born to this union. For 49 years the Rozeboom family has lived in the same house and this is the first death occurring in the home during that period of time.

Surviving are his widow, five sons and five daughters, Coba, Mrs. John Brolsma; Henry Rozeboom; Gertrude, Mrs. Henry Bastemeyer all of Orange City; Cornie Rozeboom of Rock Valley; William A. of Ottumwa; Annette, Mrs. Al Van Oort, Orange City; Bernard of Ames; Miss Helen Rozeboom of Spencer; Kathryn, Mrs. Albert Van en Berg of Rock Valley; Dr. Lloyd Rozeboom of Panama City, Panama. Also 17 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and 2 o'clock at Trinity Reformed Church with the Reverend Mr. J. G. Brouwer officiating. Interment was in the local cemetery.
