HAWARDEN, IOWA – Margaret A. Witt, 79, of Hawarden, Iowa, died on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Hawarden Regional Healthcare Hospital in Hawarden.
   Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS in Hawarden, Iowa with Rev. Joshua Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden. Visitation with the family present will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.    Margaret Ann Witt was born September 11, 1937 on a farm northeast of Alcester, South Dakota, the daughter of Clarence and Olga (Ness) Berg. She attended Buncombe #1 country school and graduated from Hawarden High School in 1955. She married Donald B. Witt on June 15, 1957 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden, Iowa. They made their home on a farm east of Hawarden.
   Margaret was the secretary at the West Sioux Middle School for many years. Upon her retirement from West Sioux she worked part time at the Hawarden Regional Healthcare Clinic until being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July of 2016.
   Her husband Donald died on April 15, 2001. Margaret was a long-time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS.
   She is survived by her children, Gary (Jolayne) Witt of Hawarden, Roger (Colleen) Witt of Warren, Ohio and Brenda (Dennis) Liffengren of Faribault, Minnesota; grandchildren, Christan, Rory, Donald, Benjamin, and Samuel; 5 great-grandchildren; and a brother, John (Margaret) Berg of Omaha, Nebraska.
   Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; and a brother, Owen Berg.
