YOUNG NURSE STRICKEN
Miss Rose Rentschler Was Popular in Large Circle
SUCCUMBED TO ATTACK OF INFLUENZA

The home of Mr. and Mrs. George Renschler[sic], residing at 214 Fourth Avenue N.W. was saddened by death on Friday when their daughter, Rose Elizabeth, succumbed to an attack of influenza.

Miss Rentschler had been employed as a nurse at the Community hospital for the past few years and had been most faithful and devoted in the course of her duties. Her constant attention to her work and the strain entitled her to a rest and in the middle of January she took a vacation. During this time she suffered an attack of influenza which after a lingering illness proved fatal. Her death comes as a great shock to her family and relatives and to many friends and patients whom she had devotedly nursed while at the hospital. Her cheery, sunny disposition and efficient care brightened the sick and helped to put new hope and life in many patients. Among her associates at the hospital she was greatly beloved. She was a loving daughter and greatly admired and looked up to by her younger brothers and sisters. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church and Sunday school and active in the work of the church and its kindred societies.

Rose Elizabeth Rentschler was born on a farm in Sioux county near Sioux Center and was a daughter of George Rentschler and Caroline Winterfield. She was twenty-eight years of age, being born March 28, 1895. She grew up on the farm and attended school and helped in the household duties. On attaining young womanhood she kept house on a farm for her brothers, George and Earnest, near Sioux Center. Mr. and Mrs. George Rentschler moved to Le Mars in 1919 to make their home and some months later Miss Rose Rentschler joined them in Le Mars and became a nurse at the Community hospital.

Her death is morned by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Rentschler, her brothers and sisters, who are George and Louis, of Sioux Center, Ernest, of Inwood, Mrs. George Ahrendt, of Sioux Center, Laura, who is a nurse at the Samaritan hospital in Sioux City, Bertha and Lillian living at home and many relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held from the home yesterday afternoon Rev. J. J. Vollmar officiating, and the remains were interred in the city cemetery. The funeral was private as the home is under quarantine, a sister having an attack of diphtheria, from which she is recovering.
