Funeral services for Mrs. George Heideman, who passed away at her home in Long Beach, California, Friday, March 15th, were held from the Methodist Church at 2 o’clock at 2 o’clock last Thursday afternoon with Reverend C.W.Tompkins in charge, who used the 23rd Psalm as his scripture text. Mrs. Hubert Zilm and Mrs. Arthur Bartlett sang “Shall We Meet Beyond the River,” “Abide With Me” and “Goin’ Home,” with Mrs. Stanley Hooper at the piano. Old neighbors and friends were pallbearers, they being J.P. Riter of Hawarden and G.L. Houlton, James Yates, George Brown, Martin Moeller, John Viotho. Agnes, the daughter, accompanied the body here from Long Beach. Other children here for the funeral were Richard, Mrs. Peterson, Henry, Arthur and Grover and also some of the grandchildren.

Augusta Hartzell was born October 17, 1854, at Wrendle, Germany. She came to this country at the age of 14 years. On April 16, 1872, she was united in marriage to George Heideman at Garden Prairie, Illinois. They came to central Iowa in an early day in a covered wagon, and later to Ireton in the days of the building of the railroad. She joined the Methodist Church at Center Chapel August 15, 1898, under the ministry of Reverend Jesse Cole. For a few years she lived at Colton, South Dakota, and in 1916 moved with her husband to Long Beach, California.

Into her home came eleven children. William and Martin preceded her in death. Those surviving are George Jr., Mrs. W.H. Semans, Mrs. C. Toll, Mrs. August Vanden Top, all of Long Beach, California; Richard of Alcester, South Dakota; Mrs. H. Peterson of Sherman, South Dakota; Henry and Arthur of Breckenridge, Minnesota and Grover E. of Dell Rapids, South Dakota.

Her husband, George H. Heideman of Long Beach, California, survives her, he being 85 years of age. There are thirty-eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was a good mother, a fine neighbor and greatly beloved by many.

She passed away at her home in Long Beach, California, March 15, 1935 at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 26 days.
