Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Heitritter were held Wednesday, February 3rd, at 1:30 P.M. at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, and at 2:00 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church north of Boyden, with Reverend P.A. Hinrichs in charge. Interment was at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers were six nephews: Laryl Heitritter, Ronald Heitritter, Duane Heitritter, Loren Baerenwald, Wayne Stueven and Bernard Groves.

Music was sung by the church choir who sang “Abide With Me,” and by Mr. Norman Moret who sang a solo.

Martha Heitritter, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Schroeder, was born February 20, 1878 at Muscatine, Iowa, and passed away Saturday, January 30, 1960, at 9:40 P.M. at the Sheldon Community Hospital following a lingering illness due to an asthmatic condition and complications. She had reached the age of 81 years, 11 months and 21 days.

The deceased was a long-time resident of Boyden, having lived on the farm northwest of Boyden since her marriage. She was a faithful member of the St. John Lutheran Church and was faithful in attendance when her health permitted, and was a member of the Church Dorcas Society and Ladies Aid.

Survivors are her 3 daughters, 2 sons, 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters and three brothers. The children are Jack Heitritter of George, Iowa; Lewis Heitritter, (Verna) Mrs. Martin Baerenwald and (Elsie) Mrs. George Baerenwald of Boyden; (Julia) Mrs. Thomas Van Diepen of Garden Grove, California. Sisters: (Anna) Mrs. William Nugent of Sibley and Mrs. Louise Willert of Chokio, Minnesota. Brothers are: William Schroeder of Sheldon; Jack Schroeder of Hartley, Iowa, and Herman Schroeder of Boyden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz August Heitritter; parents; and a son, Arthur Heitritter in November of 1958.

She leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Relatives and friends attending the funeral were from Sibley, Hartley, Ashton, George, Sioux City and Sheldon, Iowa; Chokio, Minnesota and Lincoln, Nebraska.
