Mrs. Herman Winter

Margaret Maria Winter was born Nov. 25, 1894 at Basbeck, Germany, the daughter of Hinrich and Metta (LaFrenz) Heinsohn. She was baptized on December 16, 1894 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Basbeck. She was confirmed in 1908 in the same church. She married Herman Winter of Boyden, on Aug. 11, 1922 at the Lutheran Church at Basbeck, Germany. They came to America in October of the same year. They farmed at Olivet, S.D. until 1930 when they moves to a farm northwest of Boyden, where they lived until they retired to Rock Rapids in 1960.
She was active in the Ladies Aid for many years, and a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She moved to the Good Samaritan apartment in 1978, and in 1985 became a resident of the George Good Samaritan Center until her death on August 6, 1990 at the age of 95 years, nine months and 10 days.
She leaves to cherish her memories, four sons and four daughters: August and Marie Winter of Madison, S.D. Mrs. Meta Fick of Luverne, Mn; Mrs. Hilda Uilk of Pipestone, Mn; Elsie and Alfred Fick of Boyden; Alvin and Thelma Winter of Whitesboro, Tx; Ruben and Louise Winter of Whitesboro, Tx; Luella and Elmer Loges of George; Norven and Delores Winter of Sheldon; 45 grandchildren; 88 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and one brother, Fred Heinsohn of Scotland, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Louise Uilk; infant son Gerhardt; five brothers; two sister; and sons-in-law, Raymond and Herman Uilk.
Services were held Wednesday, August 8 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church of Boyden with Pastor William R. Lewis and Pastor John Fick officiating. Interment was at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Boyden. Funeral arrangements were made by Bolin Funeral Service of George.
