Mrs. DeKing Passes Away

Mrs. Peter DeKing passed away at her home here in Hull last Sunday afternoon [December 31] at four o'clock. She had been suffering for years with rheumatism and although bed ridden all of the time, the end came unexpected and was a great shock to the family.

Mrs. DeKing, Miss Clemenzie Rosella Kuckelburg, was born fifty-two years ago in West Flanders, Belgium. On the 26th of Jan. 1881 she was married to Mr. Peter DeKing. They came to America in 1895 and located at Running Water, South Dakota, and later moved to Alexandria, South Dakota, from which place they returned to the old country on account of sickness. In 1900 they again came to the United States, locating on a farm a few miles west of Rock Valley. They moved to Hull in 1915 for Mr. DeKing to take charge of the C. M. & St. P Section.

Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. DeKing, one dying in infancy. The surviving children being: Mrs. Henry Wyffles, of Hubbard, Minnesota; Mrs. A. M. Bradley, of Hartley, Iowa; Sam, of Marshall, Minnesota; and Peter Jr. of Hull.

Besides her devoted husband she is survived by three sisters in the old country and two brothers in this country, Mr. Louis Kuckelburg, of Kenebeck, South Dakota and Mr. Peter Kuckelburg at Clifton Springs, New York.

Mrs. DeKing was buried Wednesday, at Rock Valley. The services being conducted from St. Mary's church by Rev. Father Reiley of Rock Valley and Rev. Father Roder of Alvord. Mrs. DeKing was a good wife and mother and the Index joins in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
