Born: September 27, 1859
Died: April 6, 1927

Anna Meier-Nandorf Heidbrink was born on the 27th day of September, 1859, at Spenge, Kreis Erfurt, Regierungsbezirk, Minden Province of Westphalia, Germany, and died in a Sioux City Hospital, on Wednesday morning April 6th, at the age of 67 years, six months and ten days.

When she was only two years old, her father died. Childhood, youth and early womanhood she spent in the home of her widowed mother, Mrs. Meyernander, and when, in 1886 she came to America she brought her aged mother with her. In March of the same year she was united in marriage with Casper Heidbrink. Their happy union lasting over a period of forty-one years, was blessed with ten children. Her home with the children, the garden with her flowers were her realm. A Christian home it was, and a Christian home is intimately connected with the church, the Christian congregation, in which the means of grace are dispensed Thirty-six years she and her husband and family were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church near Ireton and since the parents retirement from active farming five years ago she had been a member of the St. Paul’s Church at Ireton. Over a period of fifteen years or more she had been troubled, intermittently, with gall-bladder infection. Several weeks ago she suffered a severe attack and, seemingly, again on the way to recovery, she was seized, a week ago Thursday, by another, very acute and painful. An operation was found necessary and she was taken by ambulance to a Sioux City Hospital on Sunday and on Monday was operated upon. Only two days later her soul took its flight into the great eternity.

Her departure is being mourned by the aged husband, who recently completed the eight-ninth year of his pilgrimage, and twelve children, the two eldest being by a former marriage of her husband. They are August Heidbrink, Ireton; Anne Geurke, Le Mars; Mathilda Heidbrink, Long Beach, California; Fred Heidbrink, Spencer, South Dakota; Louise, Charles, Edward, and Oscar Heidbrink and Helma Franke of Ireton; and besides these members of the family a host of other near and distant relatives, friends and acquaintances.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from St. Paul’s Church, the local pastor and Reverend C.D. Nooffer, officiating. The six sons of the deceased acted as pallbearers. Interment was made in St. John’s Cemetery.
