Mrs. John Winter

Annetta Louise Winter, nee Mueller, was born on a farm southeast of Parkston, S. Dak., on Dec. 12, 1904. She was baptized in infancy and after being instructed was confirmed in the Luthern faith.
On Feb. 12, 1928, she was married to John Winter, who at that time was pastor at Redfield, S. Dak. After serving that congregation for 4 years they accepted a call to Elvira, near Clinton Iowa. During these years she became afflicted with arthritis. After serving 4 years at Elvira, her husband resigned and they moved to Clinton. Her condition gradually grew worse and a great part of her time was spent seeking relief, but to no avail.
In the summer of 1945 they moved to Mission, Texas, in the hope that the change of climate would benefit her condition. For a time she improved greatly but soon failed again and in the summer of 1947 it was found that she also had tuberculosis. She spent 6 weeks in a recuperating home at Herrville, Texas and on Dec. 8, 1947, she entered Grace Lutheran Sanatorium at San Antonio, Texas, where she remained till the time of her death. She died on Jan. 30, 1949 at the age of 44 years, 1 month and 18 days.
She leaves to mourn her death her sorrowing husband and two daughters, Norma and Lorraine; three brothers, Rev. Ed Mueller of Mason City, Iowa Fred Mueller of Tripp and Leonard of Tyndall, S. Dak; three sisters, Johanna, Mrs. Nath Hirrs of Alpena and Mary Mrs. Otto Reiman of Sioux Falls, S. Dak., and Ida, Mrs. Mike Mann of Cashmere, Wash.; besides a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Funeral services were held at the Wm. H. Winter home in Sheldon and at St. Johns Lutheran Church near Boyden. Interment was made in St. John Lutheran cemetery three miles north of Boyden with Rev. Wm. Striene officiating. Pallbearers were Albert and Alvin Winter of Boyden Henry Fick of Luverne, Minn., Marvin Gideon and Eldon Mueller of Tripp S. Dak. Music was furnished by the St. John Choir who sang. "Let me go from this turmoil here below", and Mrs. V. Haroham at the organ.
Truly, her life was one of cross and turmoil and she bore it patiently and bravely, fully persuaded that, in the words of Paul to the Romans, "neither death nor life-nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
