Mrs. Albert Heemstra, nee Annie Spaan died at 5 A.M. Thursday after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28 at 1 o’clock a the home of J.J. Vande Steeg and at 2 o’clock fro the Trinity Reformed Church with Reverend J.G. Brouwer officiating. Burial will be in the Orange City Cemetery.

Mrs. Heemstra was born at Pella, Iowa on November 11, 1864. She came to Sioux County at the age of 8 years and has resided in this neighborhood ever since. She was married on November 5, 1891 to Albert Heemstra at Orange City and the couple lived in or near Orange City all their life together.

To this union seven children were born, six sons and one daughter: Theodore, Albert, Jr., Cyrus and Cornelia, Mrs. John Vande Steeg all of Orange City, Henry of Hospers, George of Jacksonville, Florida, Dr. Louis of Beltsville, Maryland. There are 11 grandchildren.

Also surviving are 2 brothers and 2 sisters: Henry Spaan of Lynden, Washington, Reverend W.C. Spaan of San Jose, California, Miss Teuntje Spaan of Orange City and Mrs. William Muilenburg of Orange City. Her husband, Albert, preceded her in death about 9 months. For the past four months, Mrs. Heemstra has lived at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.J. Vande Steeg.
