Services Held In California for Former Resident

Funeral services were held July 28 in the Andrews and Greilech Funeral home at Sacramento, Calif., for William A. Verdoorn 59, a former resident of Rock Valley, who, died July 24 at his home in North Highlands, Calif., after an extended illness.

Rev. N. Gosselink conducted the service and burial was in Sierra Hills Memorial Park cemetery.

Mr. Vcrdoorn was born on a farm west of Rock Valley May 1l, 1899, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joost Verdoorn. He married Florence Vander Stoep in June 1918. They moved to Jasper, Minn. and later to Edgerton, Minn. and from there to North Highlands, Calif.

Verdoorn, a McClellan Aircraft sheet metal worker was a member of the Hope Community Reformed church.

Surviving are his wife Florence; two daughters, Mrs. Lester Rolfs of Hardwick, Minn. and Mrs. Walter Nielsen of Sacramento, Calif, five grandchildren; three brothers, Joe, Dick and Martin Verdoorn and five sisters; Mrs. Joe Van Westerhuisen, Mrs. Henry Van Woudenberg, Mrs. Andrew De Joung, Mrs. Arie Gaalswyk and Mrs. Bert Bliek.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were Frank Vander Stoep, Mrs. Andrew De Joung Mr. and Mrs. Arie Gaalswyk and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bliek.
