Broersma, Peter died 7 Sep 1906 age 56 abt 1850 buried in West Lawn Cemetery Orange City IA.

Peter Ruurd Broersma died at his home near 'Orange City last Friday at the age of fifty six years and three months. He has no children but leaves to mourn his demise two brothers and four sisters in. the Netherlands and the wife to whom he was married twenty eight years ago. Although he had, been failing for several years he was actually sick only a week or two. The funeral services which were conducted by Rev., Van Dellen were held in the Christian Reformed church Monday afternoon at two o'clock. Mrs. Broersma has the sympathy of the entire community.

Mrs. Broersma—a widow living near the Christian Reformed church -presented the members of the council with a small box of cigars for exempting her property from taxation. An act of true gratitude like this is certainly of rare occurrence. Her maiden name was Gertrude Grietje Vander Plaats . Her death was not readily found in the newspapers.
