Boyden Business Man Called by Death

Perl Marshall Work, one of the pioneer business men of Boyden, died at his home here Wednesday, June 29th, at 3:15 p. m., after an illness of about four weeks' duration. The cause of his death was from poison which absorbed in his system from his teeth. His teeth were all extracted and everything that medical skill could do for him was of no avail.
Deceased was born at Sheffield, Ill. on August 21, 1863 and he died at his home in Boyden, at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 8 days. He was the son of John M. and Martha D. Work, and a member of a family of eight, four brothers and one sister having preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, one brother, Mr. Henry Work, of Amherst, S. D. and one sister Mrs. Charley Brown of Cooksville, Ill. and a number of other relatives.
On July 3rd, 1897, he was united In marriage with Miss Anna Bergman and to this union one daughter was born, who died in infancy. Mr. Work came to this community with his parents at the age of about 20 years and later entered the blacksmith business. In later years when the automobile took the place of many horses, Mr. Work sold his blacksmith business, and in the year of 1917 he built the garage building which was his place of business up to the time of his death. He always enjoyed an excellent patronage in business and he had a host of friends in this community. Deceased was a member of the I. O. O. P. of Hull, but in late years was not active in the work. Mr. Work was a man of excellent disposition and was always found congenial. He was a loving husband, whose absence will indeed be missed.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o'clock p. m. Friday, at the home with Rev. Neil Stewart officiating. The Odd Fellows will have charge of the services at the cemetery. Interment will be made in Boyden Cemetery. The Reporter extends its sincere sympathy to the bereaved wife and relatives.
