Mrs John Schmidt died at home of daughter in South Dakota

Mrs John Schmidt, one of the pioneers of Sioux County, died last Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs Albert Gust, at Elkton SD from the infirmities of old age.
Mrs Schmidt was born in Hannover Germany on the 22nd day of January 1854. In 1871 she was united in marriage to Mr Schmidt and in 1882 they came to America and to Sioux County, to make their home. They were members of St Paul's Lutheran Church northeast of Hull, and the funeral was held there Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Goeringer. Mr Schmidt died in 1909 and since that time Mrs Schmidt has resided alternately with her son, Henry, on the old home farm, and with her daughter, Mrs Gust, of Elkton SD. At the time of her death she was 81 years, 6 months and 15 days old.
She is mourned by six children - William Schmidt, Anna Gust and Maria Schlobohm of Elkton SD, Henry of Hull, Metta Hollander of Elkton - 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
