Charles Harmelink, for nine years a member of the board of supervisors, died at his home in Orange City January 15th, following a lingering illness from anemia. He was 75 years of age.

He is survived by his widow, who has been an invalid for 16 years. He also leaves two brothers and three sisters.

Former County Supervisor Died From Long Illness

Charles Harmelink, for nine years a member of the county board of supervisors died at his home at Orange City at 9:15 Sunday morning, at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 10 days. He had been ailing for the past 2½ years from anemia.

Born at Dinxperloo, Netherlands, he came to the United States with his parents in 1868, locating first in Wisconsin but coming to Sioux County in 1873.

As a young man he was a storekeeper at Hospers for three years, but in 1888 he moved to a farm near Alton, and later to a farm near Newkirk where the family resided for 32 years. During the past 13 years Mr. and Mrs. Harmelink had lived in retirement at Orange City.

He married Miss Agnes Kuyper on December 1894. No children were born to them, but they took and raised Arie, the son of her brother, John Kuyper.
