Byl, Katie S. died 21 May 1896 age 25 years 5 months, and 15 days wife of T. buried in Hope Cemetery at Hull IA, as listed in the Sioux County IA cemetery index.

Mrs. Tunis Byl who had been confined to her bed for several weeks with that dread disease consumption departed this life last Saturday. Mrs. Byl was in 25th year of her age and leaves a loving husband and babe. A father and mother also mourn the loss of a daughter. Mrs Byl came to this county from Holland, with her parents about five years ago. She was a member of the Reformed church, of which the Rev. Kriekard is pastor. She left the testimony that her hope was based upon the promise of Him who has promised to bear the burdens of those who place their trust in Him. The sympathies of the community go out to the bereaved husband, and father and mother. The heart aches for the little child which will never realize the sacredness of a mother's love.

The funeral was hold Monday from the church on Second and Locust streets, Bev, Kriekard officiating. Dr. Eaton was present and spoke words of comfort and consolation in the English language. The remains were followed to Hope Cemetery and laid to rest.
