Mrs. Joseph (Judith) Hansen, 72, of Alton, died Friday, April 8, 1994 at the long term care wing of the Orange City Hospital after a long illness.

Services were held on Monday, April 11 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Alton, with the Reverend Ronald J. Reicks officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.

Mrs. Hansen was born July 13, 1921 at Alton, daughter of Martin and Anna (Schneider) Streff. She grew up and attended school in the Alton area, and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy at Alton in 1939. She married Mr. Hansen November 24, 1941 at Alton. They farmed near Alton and retired and moved into town in November of 1969. Mr. Joseph Hansen died April 21, 1978. She had lived in the long term care wing since January of this year.

Mrs. Hansen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Church Guild and the Rosary Society.

Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Hansen, and Carol Hansen and her husband Tom Dusbabek, all of Scottsdale, Arizona; four sons and spouses, James and Charlotte of Beaumont, Texas, Walter, and Edward and Audrey, all of Alton, and Robert and Brenda of Bloomington, Illinois; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two daughters, Debra and Shirley, both as infants, and a grandson, Jacob Hansen.
