Mass of Christian Burial for Charles McCabe, 80, of Milford, will be held at 10:30, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin Friday, March 10, after 5 pm with the family present from 5 - 7 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. A Parish Scripture Service will begin at 7 pm, Friday, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Milford.

Charles Michael McCabe, the son of Matthew and Elizabeth (Lucey) McCabe, was born January 30, 1937 in Boyden, Iowa.

After graduating from Sheldon High School in 1956, Charles was enlisted into the United States Army in 1959. After his return from the military in 1961, he farmed his father’s land. On February 6, 1964, Charles was united in marriage to Doreen Faber in Luverne, Minnesota.

Charles later drove truck for over twenty-five years for Midland Cooperative, Consolidated Freight and Roadway Express. He took great pride in his safe driving record with all the miles he drove over the years.  He also enjoyed watching his boys and grandkids participate in athletic events and spent many hours on the road driving to see them play.   Charles was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Charles passed away March 7, 2017 at Bickford Cottage in Sioux City, Iowa at eighty years of age.

He is survived by his children, Mike (Lynn) McCabe of Creston, Iowa, Tim (Beth) McCabe of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, Bryan (Beth) McCabe of Milford, Iowa, Todd (Jennifer) McCabe of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota and Bob McCabe of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; grandchildren Rachel (Dave) Vickery, Brittany (Ryan) Shinn, Bryant McCabe, Alex McCabe, Zach McCabe, Kelsey McCabe, Bryson McCabe, Keegan McCabe, Trevor McCabe, Brenna McCabe, Anne McCabe, Samantha McCabe, Jack McCabe, Jenna McCabe and Kacey McCabe; great-grandchildren, Jackson Vickery, Henley Shinn, Hank Shinn, Cameron Vickery, Lennon Vickery and Adlie McCabe; siblings, Patricia Coleman of Bettendorf, Iowa, Katie Lenoch of Madison, Wisconsin and John McCabe of Stitzer, Wisconsin.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Matthew McCabe; sister, Lucille O’Kane; infant sons, James Patrick and John Paul McCabe.
