Mrs. Harry (Elvera ) Hansen, 82, of Alton died Sunday in a Sioux City Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Services were at 10:30 A.M. today, Thursday, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. The Reverend David Hogan officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Hansen, the former Elvera Hodapp, was born November 10, 1899, at Oyens. She moved to the Merrill area with her parents as a child. She graduated from Merrill High School and taught in rural area schools for several years until her marriage to Harry Hansen, November 30, 1926, at Merrill.

They lived at Merrill for a short time after which they moved to the Alton area. He died October 19, 1969. On November 18, 1979 she moved to the Happy Siesta Retirement Home in Remsen.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son, Norman of Tinley Park, Illinois; three grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
